Slip n Slide

May 30, 2010

After some pleading, the kids managed to get us to set up the dreaded slip n slide! After connecting some hoses, placing anchors in and patching a few holes it was up and running. What I didn't realize is how much Carsten would love it. He wanted nothing to do with the slipping or the slidding but headed right for the water spraying out the sides...

I think my favorite part of this movie is how close Grace & Jack come to taking Carsten out...and how he doesn't even care!!

Happiest Place on Earth

May 12, 2010

...and also the hottest!!! Ok , picture this, we get to our beautiful hotel and go right to the concierge to buy our "5 Day Park Hopper plus Water Parks Tickets" and the cashier says that will be $1,300.00. I look at Chris just to make sure there isn't a mistake and he gives me the "that's right" look. Unfortunately, I figured that was right too...We aren't exactly surprised but quickly realize how exciting it wil be to have 5 full days in and out of these amazing parks! It will be so worth it! We get to the park and ride our first ride. The kids love it and Chris and I let out a sigh realizing some things are priceless. 2 minutes later, almost in unison, we hear from our double stroller "Can we go back to the pool at the hotel now?"
Yes, some things are priceless!!

It all worked out in the end, and we spent as much tiime as we possibly could in all those parks and of course it was worth it! We just had to make sure we put in some solid pool time to round it all out! We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends (Jim, Jackie and Ryan) that let us tag along on their vacation and stay at their beautiful place. We hope we are lucky enough to come along again some time soon! Definitely a lot of happiness all around with good friends, a few characters and some good old fashioned disney fun!

Here's a recap....

5K...check

May 8, 2010

You may think it's strange to want mulch delivered for Mother's Day. Well, I've got one even stranger. This Mother's Day weekend Chris and I ran a 5K. Spur of the moment decision, very little training and my goal was to make it to the end alive. I'm proud to say I made it. Not as proud of my time but it was my first try and hopefully it only improves. As expected, Chris rolled out of bed and kicked my butt...could have done without that!!! Still a good feeling to check it off the list..

"Lemonade, 25 cents!"

May 1, 2010

As I took the picture of my, now annual, Mother's Day mulch arriving, I realized I have been doing this blog for a year now! I think one of my first postings had the same picture (maybe a differnt truck) of those 5 yards of of dirt being dumped all over our driveway! Just another way of realizing time goes by just way too fast! I love having a way to get out all those little events that happen in our everyday life, to all of you. Thanks for taking the time to read all of it! Let's see if I can keep it up another year...

We had a little something extra the day this mulch arrived and that was a lemonade stand in our front yard! Grace and her friend Emma (our neighbor) decided they wanted to put one together. So the night before, we worked very hard on posters and Grammy made her famous chocolate chip cookies till the wee hours of the morning so we could sell them too! They also decided, on their own, that they wanted the proceeds to go to St. Jude's hospital (as they have been learning about this in school!)

There is one thing I've learned from this lemonade stand process and I am passing this on to all of you as well since I feel it's so important. No matter how busy you might be, or how late you may be for something PLEASE stop at the next lemonade you see and make the day of a little boy or girl!!! I am guilty no doubt, thinking "i just don't have time to stop now" or "i feel really bad just driving by, but It is kind of a hassle". When a car did stop, it was like they won the lottery!! We used the opportunity to tell them that it's tough "running a business" and it may not always work out like you had hoped..good life lessons, right? Either way, Chris and I have made a pact to stop at as many stands as possible and we urge you to do the same!!!I I promise you those kids will remember it and talk about you for days to come (as my kids did!!)

Our First Customer

Did I mention that all Carsten wanted to do all day was play with the fence door!!
