Just a Trim...

July 31st 2009

It's been a while since I've posted anything, I guess things have been quiet for the most part (relatively speaking anyway). We have had a few things going on but mostly trying to get through the week without Chris and preparing for our road trip out to Indiana/Chicago next week.

Jack did go for his annual doctors appointment and did great. He's in the 75th percentile for height and weight and passed all of his tests. He hopped and skipped his way to being told he can now be "4". Of course, he asked every 2 seconds when the shots were coming and didn't care for that part very much but he handled it like a trooper and had the band-aids to prove it!

I was able to get away for 2 nights to the shore to visit my girlfriends from college and we had such a nice time. I spent the whole day on the beach not having to put sunscreen on anybody else but myself and I sat in a chair the whole afternoon and did nothing but chat and read. It sounds really lazy when I think about it but it was such a treat. I needed to gear up for a week with the kids without Chris as he was headed to Germany again..

Finally, it was haircut time for the kids so I decided to get it done while Chris was away. I also decided it was time for Carsten to get his 1st official trim. Yes that's right, his first haircut and he's not even 6 months old! I'm pretty sure Grace didn't need one until about a year, so Carsten just broke the record and he looks like such a little boy now...

A short video of the "event". I'm not sure what's funnier, Carsten getting the haircut or Grace taking the video!

The Birthday Boy!

July 12, 2009

It's official, Jack woke up today and was 4!! He couldn't believe that he could go to bed 3 and wake up 4 ....and actually neither could I. Can he go to sleep and be 3 again if I think he's getting too old too fast. If only...

I do think we've created a bit of a problem since our kids consider it normal to have 3 birthday celebrations. Last year, it was a "German" party and an "American" party. This year, it's a "New Jersey" birthday, "Rhode Island" birthday, and of course the "Real" Birthday. This could be trouble for future years. They might as well enjoy it now while they can, before they know it they'll be like me and can't even remember how old I'm turning this year!!

Happy "Real" Birthday Jack!

Look Mom...2 Teeth!

July 9, 2009

I think Carsten really wants to eat! Two teeth appeared this week and he's not even 5 months! It was a tough week for him and also for us, as he has tried to "chew" on each and everyone of us at some point looking for some relief! Hopefully, he (and us) will get a break from teething for a while!

Let the constant drooling begin...ughh

Can we go in yet?

July 8, 2009

We arrived in Rhode Island in the pouring rain and thought we might never get in the pool this week, but we got lucky and had some beautiful weather. The kids waited patiently for it to be warm enough to go in and when they got the green light there was no turning back! Jack was hesitant at first, but with help of (several) flotation devices he was doing really well on his own. Carsten even took his first dip! The only problem Grace had was that the day wasn't long enough. We had to literally drag her out..

Birthdays and Fireworks!

July 4, 2009

We celebrated 2 birthdays today ( Maddyn and Jack's) and of course celebrated the 4th of July. We squeezed in presents, pinatas, sparklers and tons of desserts (thanks to Aunt Jeniene) all before any major meltdowns. Notice I said "major". There was certainly our share of minor scrapes and scratches and a small "misunderstanding" between the girls but for having 7 kids all under the age of 7 under one roof, I think we did pretty well...
